It was great see and spend time with family. The kids had a great time doing the stuff we usually do when we go to mom and dad's . . . . riding on the farm 'toys' (tractors and four-wheelers), picking pecans, and playing with cousins (although sadly, we missed out on a whole crew of them!) This year, however, they discovered new delights. One was raking up the leaves! Who knew this would provide so much entertainment?! Raegan was especially ambitious, and hauled off many wagonloads. Her comment afterwards . . . "That is a workout, mom!!" Well, yeah. The other newfound discovery was the joy of turnips. (Strange, I know.) Again, Rae led the charge in this adventure. Papaw peeled some raw ones and we all tried our 'turnip lollipops'. Not too bad. Rae was the only one who finished hers. :) After the kids picked a wagonful we walked down the gravel road to Aunt Tina's house and made a delivery. (Anna Beth: "What kind of road IS THIS?!?") Aunt Tina was sweet enough to cook up a potful of turnips for Thanksgiving dinner. They were surprisingly good, and the kids loved that they were able to eat something they'd picked! He started out OK . . . although he didn't participate in the singing. He was very excited to discover that Mama was there -- who, by the way, had her video camera, digital camera, and cell phone camera all pointed at him! But then he decided the program was much more enjoyable from the audience! Here he is with his best little buddy, Malia.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect from our son during a recent performance at school.
