The last week has been pretty great. Our LifeGroup went out to Bear Creek Park and ate some burgers/dogs and tossed the football. We've been able to get out and swim quite a bit in the evenings, now. All our kids are getting so used to the water and our Aidan THINKS he can swim...even though he can't.
Anyway, the weekend is always great...had a great service thise weekend...had membership class, etc. The crazy event of the week came when I was surprised by one of my long-time buds from SCC days. David Bates (below) just showed up at our services, unannounced. It was awesome. David is an awesome guy with an authentic heart. And besides that, his brain thinks of some warped stuff. I LOVE the fact that several of my CityView peoples got to know David and Lori (his wife) on Sunday. It's a colliding of worlds.
I'm wondering whether they'll need to change the name of Prison Break to Prison Break-out, since I can't foresee a scenario where they end up back in prison after everything shakes down next week. While Lost seems to drag things out...Prison Break brings the series concept to a climax in one season. Has me wondering what direction they're going for season 2...hmmmm.

Ok...I promised myself that I wouldn't write about "Dog the Bounty Hunter", because Driscoll kinda' covered the greatness of Dog in his blog. Anyway...I have to comment. Dog has got to be one of the most missional guys I've seen. He's simply masterful at taking a bad guy down...breaking him down mentally/emotionally...and then building him back up. At that point, "BAM!" he hits the suspect with the gospel from one angle or another. I'm wondering how many guys might be inspired to become bounty hunters in Jesus' name because of Dog. ![]()
I love 24. Jack Baur rules. However...this show has one flaw that rears its ugly head every season. Inevitably, there's a crisis...a bomb...nerve gas...etc. During the crisis, the powers that be always have a discussion about why they shouldn't notify the public about the crisis. The reason? Mass panic.
For whatever reason, the writers of 24 believe that us common folk are prone to riot and scream in the streets if there's real crisis. While this might be true of some, my belief is that an alerted public usually gives the authorities millions of additional eyes and ears to find...and generally speaking, the American people rise to the occasion in crisis. Nevertheless...great episodes tonight.

Outside of Jack Baur...Mr Ecko is about the baddest man on TV right now. Easily the best new character on Lost.
